LIVE at The Rosebud: September 4, 5, 6, 8, 2025
We are only as strong as the bonds that hold us together. Labor Day was founded in 1882 by groups of people with a common cause. They set aside their differences to improve the experiences they shared. For the next 100 years, clubs, fraternities, organizations, associations, and interest groups would redefine American life time-and-time again, [almost] always for the betterment of society.
The last fifty years have seen the opposite trend: a focus on individualism and commercialism has resulted in a sense of isolation from each other. Clubs of all kinds are aging out of relevance as attendance drops along generations. Politics are polarizing to the point of stagnation as belief in our collective power-of-the-people fades.*
But there is hope! Deep in the fringe: in the dive bars, punk shows, pool halls, and D&D gatherings, you’ll find diverse pockets of people working toward a common goal, just as we always have.
The irony of asking an internet audience to “log off” every week is not lost on us, but the sentiment is important. Real community happens face-to-face, hand-to-handshake, and shoulder-to-shoulder in a mosh pit or a picket line. Human connection is our business at The Rosebud, and your presence is the key factor in that model. Without a community, life is just a rehearsal. Together we can make our collective dreams into everyday reality.
Here’s what we have for you this week…
Thursday September 4th, Eugene’s progressive bluegrass sensation The Muddy Souls is back at The Rosebud after an adventurous European tour! Formed in 2018, the string-and-vocal quintet has lit up dance floors across the world with their original songs and virtuosic improvisations.
Friday September 5th, puppets take over The Rosebud as robots take over the planet with Puppeteers for Fears hilarious cyber-punk fever dream ROBOPOCALYPSE: The Musical! Featuring 13 new songs, an analog synthesizer driven score, an all-puppet cast, more multimedia than you can shake a stick at, and a wickedly stylish 1980’s visual aesthetic, this ambitious puppet theater show is sure to dazzle and astonish. Featuring musical guest Blunderbusst.
Saturday September 6th, find out what happens when a looping artist meets a one-man drum circle with Bend, Oregon’s Spencer Marlyn Band! Genre-hopping between funk, reggae, bluegrass, jam, folk, and psychedelia, this two-man dance band packs a punch!
Monday September 8th, it’s an ALL AGES MONDAY METAL MOSHDOWN with Las Vegas’s hardest working heavy metal band Hemlock! Hemlock has been pumping out albums and touring the planet since 1993 with their chugging riffs, deep bass tones, rhythmic grooves, and catchy positive lyrics with a haberdash of melody. They are joined by Vegas’s D’Angeld, and the PNW’s Crown of Thorns, Pitch Black Mass, and Gravewitch for a 4-hour headbanging experience- music starts at 6pm!
And new-wave fans, SAVE THE DATE: Thursday September 11th, look out for XTC’s Terry Chambers’ reimagining of his globally successful post-punk band: EXTC!
Thank you to Adam Gabriel & The Cavaliers and Widespread Haze for a boot-stomping good time, to Danger Kitty and (Re)Discover Downtown for a rockin’ Fifth Friday, and to Old Cross, Bad Luck Blackouts, and Distinguished Apes for a SOLD OUT all-ages Punk ‘N’ Donuts party! We’ll see you- our extended musical family- this weekend when you log off, tune in, and drop by The Rosebud Theatre!
