LIVE at The Rosebud: September 10, 11, 12, 13, 2025
Even in the apex of Summer, our Downtown community is growing into uncharted territory. Last Thursday I had the honor of attending the Umpqua Growth Talks Pitch Night at Backside Brewing in support of The Rosebud Theatre. The weather was hot and humid, but the social climate was inspiring! Five out of six of the competing small businesses – including all three place-winners - are located within a mile of The Rosebud. From boutique clothing (Public Spectacle) to indoor golf (Cattle Dogs), hot dogs stands (Jime’s Hot Dogs) to dance studios (Ellie’s Dance Studio), we have that and more fresh additions to our Downtown community. Music, entertainment, fashion, fitness, food, and sport, all within walking distance, and all a result of like-minded individuals following their far-fetched dreams. We are in this together – carving out our corner of culture on an historic canvas, finding our people through actions, and building our dreams for the world to share. Come downtown and dream with us!
Here’s what we have for you this week…
Wednesday September 10th, join us for an All-Ages Jazz Jam, where the regional jazz scene explores the Great American Songbook through improvisation and collaboration. Bring your horn and sit in, or sit back and enjoy the sounds!
Thursday September 11th, emerging out of the post-punk and new-wave explosion of the late ‘70’s, and uniting under the supervision of their legendary drummer Terry Chambers, EXTC brings XTC’s music LIVE to 2025! With members of The Vapors, Joe Jackson and Dead Crow Road, the new lineup promises a faithful interpretation of XTC’s classic repertoire with a fresh kick. Followed by a New Wave DJ set by Eric Yokai!
Friday September 12th, Portland’s blues ninja brings his 6-piece horn band for an electric performance by Ben Rice & The PDX Hustle. From high-octane dance tunes to heartfelt original ballads, Ben Rice brings the heat! Featuring Pat MacDougall, John Wolcott, Pete Petersen, John Dover, and Adam Carlson, Ben Rice’s all-star blues lineup is sure to impress and inspire.
Saturday September 13th, from the hills of sunny Southern Oregon hails The Rosa Lees – the all-female bluegrass quartet. Closely blended harmonies, hard-charging rhythms, and lyrically potent songs define their performance as they reach beyond traditional bluegrass into classic country, Celtic roots, and gospel music.
