LIVE at The Rosebud: July 3, 4, 5, 2025
Two-hundred-forty-nine years ago a declaration was signed that would change the world forever. The next centuries would bring the abolition of slavery, the invention of the airplane and automobile, civil rights, the birth of recorded music, women’s rights, twenty-seven amendments, and multiple wars defending and defining the elusive concept of independence. What started as the pursuit of financial and religious freedom for a few has augmented into a panoptic embrace of personal, physical, spiritual, and cultural independence for the masses. Individuality, freedom of expression, and equality have become cornerstones of western thought, opening the floodgates for technological and artistic advancement history has never seen. From defiant jazz to folk protest songs, from traditional blues to rebellious punk rock, from two-step to second-line, from Gershwin to Tupac, our music, our movies, our art, our culture is made possible by a two-and-a-half century old decision to pursue a new way of life: Independence of the mind, body, and spirit. Thank you, America, and happy birthday!
Thursday July 3rd, meet the man behind your favorite country songs: Nashville’s Anthony Smith! From George Strait’s “Run” to Trace Adkin’s “Chrome” to Rascal Flatts “My Worst Fear” and many more between, Anthony Smith has helped shape the sound and sentiment of modern country music. Hear him live and in person, with opener and host blues woman Dawn Day! Get your tickets here!
Friday July 4th, we will be closed to celebrate Independence Day!
Saturday July 5th, “there’s two polar bears in a bath tub”: Portland’s saxophone-driven funk-jazz-metal-hip-hop prog-fusion instrumental septet No Soap, Radio returns to Roseburg after stealing the show at Urban Blendz “Battle of the Blendz”. Head-banging, booty-shaking, and shoe-gazing, all in one genre-defying experience! Don’t miss it! Get your tickets here!
And SAVE THE DATE, next Wednesday July 9th, Mexico City’s A Love Electric teams up with Portland’s Galen Clark for a night of power psych, punk jazz, and post-genre freak rock. “Think Band of Gypsys meets Kerouac on a beach in Mexico.” Experimental surf jazz and spoken word poetry, come see what happens! Get your tickets here!
