Live at The Rosebud: May 15, 16, 17, 2025

What is it about live music that keeps us coming back for more? Is it the sensation of soundwaves crashing against our bodies, or the undulating motion of the dancing crowd? Is It the emotional connection to the awe-inspiring artists? Or the potential opportunity to check stagediving off the bucket list? Or is there something more- something just beyond the grasp of human measurement- something spiritual? Behind all the guitar technique, showmanship, sound amplification, two steps, twirls, and shouting applause: a focused and fleeting glimpse into the human soul. That’s enough to bring me back into the crowd again and again.

Maybe it’s all of it—the movement, the meaning, the magic. Whatever it is, we feel it every week in our little venue downtown. And if you’re looking to feel it too, you’re in luck:

Here’s what we have coming up this week at The Rosebud:

Thursday May 15th, Portland-based bluesman Ty Curtis brings his trio for a dynamic and mesmerizing modern blues experience. His new raw, boisterous, and relentless single “Hey Now” encapsulates his prowess in the electric blues.

Friday May 16, get ready for a stompy modern alternative-rock and folky blues double feature with Trevor Hanks & the Blackburn Rebels and Adam Gabriel & the Cavaliers! Instant classic songwriting with a full-band backbeat is sure to get the room up and grooving.

Saturday May 17th, take a trip across the Atlantic with the Katie Jane Band as they blend Irish, Scottish, and French-Canadian folk music with original virtuosic compositions for an awe-inspiring and authentic Celtic experience. Come get your jig on with today’s Celtic music darling!

While writing this and getting excited about the upcoming performances, I thought of another reason to keep coming back to live music: because it feels good! Maybe that’s enough. Thank you to Jason Dae West & The Siskiyou Crest, Mark Winters and Fred Van Vactor, Jacob Weldon & The Cobras, and Marshall Falcon & The Midnight Bazaar for their incredible performances, hip outfits, and chill vibes. Thank you to our amazing team, and our awesome patrons! We’ll see you this weekend when you log off, tune in, and drop by The Rosebud Theatre.
