LIVE at The Rosebud: January 8, 9, 10, 14, 2026

They say we stop discovering new music at 33. Nostalgia outweighs curiosity as we find satisfaction in the memories trapped in the chord progressions and lyric melodies of our youth. The house plant of curiosity wilts without the water of creative input, and the sunlight of an open mind.

More music is being made and released than ever before in human history, made easily accessible by the internet, and infinitely variable by the beautiful diversity of modern humanity. We are living in the revolution, but from inside the record’s groove it looks like just another rotation.

It’s not. The record has flipped. The well of youth springs through our Bluetooth speakers and broken phone screens. All we have to do… is listen.

In the immortal words of Gil Scott-Heron, “The Revolution will not be televised. The revolution… will be live” [at the Rosebud!]

Here’s what we have for you this week…

Thursday, January 8th:

Come bathe in the heavy, melodic, and dynamic sounds of Chicago’s Sadness, Baltimore’s Life, supergroup Dawn of Ouroboros, and Roseburg’s fairweatherfriend. Taking cues from emo, shoegaze, and black metal wrapped in reverb and arpeggiating synths, Damián Antón-Ojeda’s Sadness crafts tender, melodic journeys that treat genre as terrain, open to traversal for anyone daring enough to forge the path. Life delivers emotive hardcore, Dawn of Ouroboros brings their blackened progressive metal, and emo rockers fairweatherfriend open the night!

Friday, January 9th:

Anarchist folk troubadour Jason Dae West is back with his band The Siskiyou Crest and Montana’s songstress and multi-instrumentalists Maybel’s Fables! West’s poignant lyrics are brilliantly blended with vintage country, folk and blues, and timely sensibilities. From epic guitar and harmonica instrumentals to humorous songs as story, Jason never strays very far from the anarchic punk-folk roots of his beloved former band Barefoot Surrender and his celebrated current band Intuitive Compass.

Seattle fusion-jazz and jam band heavyweights Andy Coe (ACB, Skerik Band, McTuff) and drummer D’Vonne Lewis (Digable Planets, McTuff, Industrial Revelation) join forces with Portland keyboard wizard Galen Clark (Outer Orbit, Trio Subtonic, Sleater-Kinney) for a blend of pocket heavy organ trio funk and mind bending groove music in this Northwest supergroup: Patterns Fly.
