LIVE at The Rosebud: December 10, 11, 12, 13, 2025
It’s Kristi’s birthday week, and, as her partner, I reserve the right to write about her in the newsletter. Here’s some things you may not know about The Rosebud’s founder Kristi Rifenbark:
Kristi and I met in 2017. I was landscaping for a living; she owned her own marketing company. We met at The Deathtrap (a punk music venue and sake bar near the parking garage) and within a month of knowing each other we were playing music on that same stage.
Kristi was the music booker for North Forty Brewing Company for the first few years, bringing to town acts like Rob Wynia and The Brothers Reed. This led to the creation of Blocktoberfest, of which she is a founding and integral member.
From around 2019-2024, Kristi rented the top floor of the old Odd Fellows building across from the Masonic Lodge where we threw private parties, shows, and recorded multiple local bands’ albums as Way Back Recording.
In 2023 Kristi started leasing the second floor of the Odd Fellows building where we built our second DIY performance space: The Green Heron. Around this time, she began Music in the Burg - an aggregation of music-related events around Roseburg.
In the Summer of 2024, Judd Lewis (builder and founder of The Sunnyside Theatre) called Kristi and told her that he wanted her to take over the venue because of her deep love and commitment to the Roseburg music community.
Kristi is now the owner, operator, manager, booker, and marketer of The Rosebud while maintaining Buzz Collective and gigging with Widespread Haze. Not all superheroes wear capes: some own music venues. Happy birthday Kristi!
