LIVE at The Rosebud: August 27, 28, 29, 2026

A stage is a liminal space. Different people, different sounds, different situations perspire onto the gaff-taped rugs every night. Complete strangers working together in alchemy, transcending strings and skins into meaning and emotion, always infinitely different and universally one. This week, Southern Oregon heavy metal conquers Thursday, original local jazz kicks back in the speakeasy Friday (with a Dolly Parton after-show listening party), and Seattle alternative punk and Portland spankwave take over Saturday. Don’t miss these eclectic live experiences: they only happen this way once.

Here’s what we have for you this week…

Thursday, August 27th:

Torn From Ashes, Achromic, Atelectasis: METAL at The Rosebud // $15 // All Ages // Doors 6pm, Show 7pm // Heavy Metal, Thrash-Punk, Thrash-Metal

Powerful, high-energy, riff driven Southern Oregon heavy metal group Torn From Ashes joins forces with Rogue Valley thrash / punk band Achromic and Southern-Oregon thrash-metal project Atelectasis for a heavy Thursday night at The Rosebud.

Friday, August 28th:

Tommy Whiteside Combo LIVE at The Rabbit Hole // $10 // $5 for Rosebud Club Members // All Ages // Doors 6pm, Show 7pm // Jazz, Instrumental // Note: there will not be a show in the main venue on Friday night.

Join us in our living-room style speakeasy for fourth-Friday live jazz!

Formed in 2024, drummer / composer Tommy Whiteside’s instrumental jazz combo puts original hand-written music in front of a rotation of some of the best young jazz musicians in the region, and beyond. The combo explores the outer reaches of harmony, blending influence from bebop to chamber music to free-jazz into a dynamic, eclectic, and sometimes abrasive sonic tapestry of improvisation.

Featuring Matthew Krepky on tenor saxophone, Christian Springman on guitar, and Milo Brosamer on bass.

Friday, August 28th:

Dolly Parton Listening Party at The Rabbit Hole // FREE // 21+ // 10pm

Join us after the show for a Dolly Parton listening party in our living-room style speakeasy. Bring your favorite Dolly records and stories and celebrate the life of the Queen of Country.

Saturday, August 29th:

Russian Blue (Seattle), combobox (Portland), Sellout LIVE at The Rosebud // $15 // All Ages // Doors 6pm, Show 7pm // Alternative Punk, Spankwave, Indie Rock

Russian Blue is six people, a wall of synthesizers, and a room full of strangers dancing like they've known each other for years. The Seattle band makes synth-driven post-punk that owes as much to the dance floor as it does to the stage, landing somewhere between LCD Soundsystem's restless pulse and the emotional sweep of Bleachers.

In an era where most indie bands are trimming down, Russian Blue is doing the opposite. The live show is maximalist, built to make a room move and not let up until it's over.

Portland’s combobox makes precision-cut, high-energy alt-punk they’ve nicknamed spankwave, with songs that snap, grin, and go. Imagine the nervy angles and deadpan wit of Talking Heads colliding with the hair-trigger dynamics of System of a Down. Modern peers includie Gustaf and early Bloc Party. The writing is compact, with most tracks landing well under three minutes, and the live show mirrors that economy. Minimal time between songs; maximum momentum. Crowds skank, a little pit bubbles up, and the band’s black and white jumpsuit uniform turns the stage into a blinking logo.

With Roseburg’s alternative rockers Sellout.
