The Umpqua Community College Big Horn Jazz Band was formed in the early 1990’s when members of the SKYLINE Brass Quartet were residing and teaching students in Douglas County. The NEW Director of the Umpqua Community College Big Band, John Gronberg is an accomplished jazz trumpet player and teacher.

Tommy Whiteside is a Roseburg-based drummer / composer with an all-star combo featuring Nathaniel Keller on alto sax, Matthew Krepky on tenor sax, John Gronberg on flugelhorn, Trevor Thompson on trombone, Judah Sensabaugh on bass, and Johnny Leal on guitar. The septet will be debuting new original music, and revisiting some tunes from Tommy’s 2025 album Nana’s Piano.
