Accordion Lovers, you’re in for a real treat on Sunday, August 10 when the award-winning Scottish accordionist Gary Blair performs at The Rosebud Theatre, 663 SE Jackson St, Roseburg in an early all-ages show from 5 – 7 pm. Tickets are $15. Accordionist Gary Blair is also a composer, teacher and musical director of the Jimmy Blair Accordion Orchestra. Hailing from Glasgow, Gary’s charisma and playing ability have made him popular with audiences throughout the world.
He was taught by his father, Jimmy Blair, who along with Gary’s mum Lola, ran a large accordion school in Glasgow. In the past, Gary used to organize the South Scotland Accordion Championships having taken it over from his late parents. He has been actively involved in the last 26 U.K. Accordion Championships, be it competing, adjudicating, performing or organizing. He is currently an Executive Committee member of the National Accordion Organization of Great Britain. The Gary Blair Ceilidh Band has performed for the UK Championships Gala Evening on six occasions.
Besides running a very large accordion school, he is a past U.K. Accordion Champion and now devotes his time between a very busy touring and teaching schedule. Gary Blair is a lover and performer of a wide variety of styles at many accordion clubs, festivals and ceilidhs.
Gary’s accordion festival appearances and tours have taken him to Quebec, Siberia, China, Korea, India, UAE, Russia, Kuwait, Italy, Canada, Iceland, most European countries and the USA. In between his rather hectic schedule of band gigs (ceilidhs, weddings etc.) he performed recently in Dubai and at the international accordion festivals held at Blackpool and Caister England. The Gary Blair Ceilidh Band has a CD available, and Gary also has two solo CDs.
